About Cala's Corns

Cala's Corns was started in 2006 after my collection expanded dramatically the previous year.

As a kid growing up I was always out in the woods collecting anything that moved. From ground and broad- headed skinks to black racers and green earth snakes, I was constantly catching things to bring home. It was shortly after that when I got my first corn snake, but being young and lacking any real advice that was short-lived. My snake escaped a few times, and was recovered a few times minus one.

When I got to college I found a hatchling gray rat snake outside my apartment and that soon sparked a very intense interest to get back into the hobby. Soon after that I attended a Gila Productions reptile expo in Tallahassee in October of 2003 with the sole intention of picking up a ball python or two. I did just that, but then stumbled across 'Lost World Reptiles', owned by Gino Sassani ( www.lwreptiles.com ) After talking with him for a while I picked out a pair of corn snakes (a female amel and a male snow) to mate down the road as a side project. The corn snake discussions become more frequent with Gino via e-mail and in December of 2004 I returned to that very same Gila Productions Expo and bought a few more snakes from Gino. I was officially hooked.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Gino for all of his time and willingness in answering all of my questions when I first got back into the hobby. Those efforts went a long way into building the collection that I have today. I am thankful that I ended up at Gino's table back in 2003 to get my corn snakes, or this web site would probably not exist today.

A few years later and the ball pythons are no more, and the corn snake collection has grown ten fold. Corn snakes are now my one and only species of snake, however, I have hopes of adding some Florida Kings later in the year.
